Mt. Pleasant Cemetery hosts Memorial Day Service

Amy Ferrari and Jeff Studley decorate Jeff’s father’s grave. Amy hangs a bird feeder next to Dean Russell Studley’s tombstone because “my dad loved birds” Jeff Studley said. Amy added, “He built a lot of birdhouses.” Dean Studley was a veteran of World War II.

The Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Board hosted a Memorial Day Service at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery north of New Franklin along Highway 5. The Rev. Tim Fairley, pastor at United Church of Christ in New Franklin, extolled the valor of others who give up their lives so that those at home may live freely.

The Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Board saw to it that U.S. flags were placed on all veterans’ grave sites.  Board members are: Todd Baslee, Irene Biesemeyer, Leona Schmidt, Helen Wilmsmeyer, Vernon Yager, Harold Young (president).
