Fayette R-III reorganizes after election; Gose new President

Elected School Board members taken oath Monday, Shauna Young, Gary Gose and Larry Anderson.

A large crowd was in attendance at the Fayette R-III Board of Education meeting Wednesday. The Board meeting in regular session reorganized after the April 4 election. The Fayette school district did not have an election due to the fact that only three candidates ran for three seats on the Board. Gary Gose and Larry Anderson are incumbents to the Board. Shauna Young is the new member of the Board. Gary Gose was elected President for the 2017-18 school year. Eric McSwain was chosen vice President by the Board. Sheri Williams did not run for reelection to the Board. Superintendent Tamara Kimball thanked Williams for her nine years of service to the Board.
The Board accepted Fresh Ideas to be  the food service provider  for next year. They postponed the decision until after closed session.  There are three companies that made proposals to the Board. Current school district food service provider OPPA, Fresh Ideas (provider for CMU) and Paula Volkmann (made a presentation to bring food service in house).
Kimball reported that The Moberly Area Technical Center has recognized Jacob Vogt (Machine Tool Technology) and Dakota Martin (Electronics & Robotics Technology) as Students of the Month for their respective programs of study.
Kimball noted that Mary Ann Hudson has been nominated by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Regional Teacher of the Year.  Kimball said, “Fayette has never had anyone nominated for this award before.”  Daly/Clark held a special surprise celebration for Mary Ann on Thursday.  Hudson was responsible for completing a lengthy packet that will be used to determine which regional winner will be named the Missouri Teacher of the Year.
The Board approved the following: accept an anonymous donation of $400 to the Daly/Clark Library. Accept a donation of $500 from PTA to Daly Elementary for playground enhancements.
