Ted Fenical of Jamestown, formerly of New Franklin, died Friday (May 23, 2008) at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was 85.
Born in Blackwater Dec. 26, 1922, he was the son of Jewell and Elizabeth Turley Fenical. He married Virginia Stanfield in Boonville on Jan. 4, 1947, and she preceded him in death.
Mr. Fenical was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in China during World War II. He received two bronze stars and the good conduct medal. He was the owner and operator of Ted’s Standard Service Station in New Franklin for many years and later was employed at Lang’s Amoco Station in Boonville. He also was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Birkmann and husband, Bill, of Jamestown; a son, Donald Redden and wife, Martha, of Boonville; a brother, Bobby Fenical and wife, JoAnn of Blackwater; six grandchildren, Sandy Redden, Robert Redden, Kevin Redden and wife, Kim; Donald Redden Jr., Jessica Birkmann, and Stephanie Birkmann; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, a son, Robert E. Redden, a sister, Betty Green, and a granddaughter, Regina Redden, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday (today) at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin. Burial with full military honors will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin. Visitation was scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
