Does Fayette need another convenience store? Councilman Wally Eaton thinks so.

Casey’s is the only retail business where residents may purchase gas in the late evenings and Sundays. Hours of operation: 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week.

Eaton suggested at the last council meeting Tuesday that the director of county economic development work toward acquiring another convenience store in Fayette.

As reported in this newspaper, Casey’s purchased the FastLane facility which closed its doors May 13. Casey’s plans to re-open in the remodeled facility on South Church Street in the fall.

In March 2007, Taylor Food Mart on Highway 5 closed.
