• THE FAYETTE FARMERS’ MARKET will be open today (Saturday) beginning at 8 a.m. on the square.

• FRIENDS OF CLARK’S CHAPEL will hold a service Sunday at 5 p.m. The Rev. Arthur Barkey will officiate. Persons of all faiths are invited.
• THE SOUTH HOWARD COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY will hold its monthly meeting Sunday at 7 p.m., in the Visitors Center in New Franklin. A program will be presented by Glenda Wolf.
• THE 15TH ANNUAL FALCON OPEN will take place Sunday. Shotgun start is at 12:30 p.m. To enter, contact Fred Eaton, 248-3118. Entry fee is $70 per team. Proceeds benefit Fayette R-III student athletes.
• THE FAYETTE ARMSTRONG COMMUNITY BETTERMENT GROUP will meet Monday at noon in the Commercial Trust Community Room. Speaking will be Howard County Economic Development Director JoAnn Sumner. Everyone welcome.
• HOWARD COUNTY DEMOCRATIC WOMEN will meet Monday at noon in Schnell Hall for a carry-in luncheon.
• THE NEW FRANKLIN CITY COUNCIL will meet Monday, 7 p.m., city hall. (This is a change from the regularly scheduled meeting the first Monday of the month.)
• THE CITY COUNCIL OF ARMSTRONG will meet Monday, 7 p.m., in city hall.
• THE VFW POST 2914 will meet Tuesday, 8 p.m., in the Glasgow American Legion Hall.
• THE FAYETTE R-III SCHOOLS will dismiss Wednesday at noon for a teacher in-service.
• THE OUTREACH LIBRARIAN will be available Wednesday, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., Armstrong city hall.
• THE HOWARD COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD will meet Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in the library.
• P.E.O. Chapter AU will meet Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. in the Commercial Trust Community Room. Bonnie Potter and Claudia Powell are hostesses. Cindy Fulp, Missouri P.E.O. state treasurer, will be a guest
• THE FAYETTE MINISTERIAL ALLIANCE FOOD PANTRY will distribute food on Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Keller Building.
• THE GFWC GOLDEN STUDY CLUB will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. in Schnell Hall.
• THE PARENTS AS TEACHERS PLAY CENTER has set new fall hours. The center, located under the FHS band room, will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m.; the first Tuesday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and the second and fourth Saturdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Questions? • CMU’S ASHBY-HODGE GALLERY OF AMERICAN ART is featuring an exhibit titled “Women In Art: Seventy Works from the Permanent Collection.” Hours are from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The gallery is located on the ground floor of CMU’s library.
