Former Glasgow resident Duane Gebhardt passed away Jan. 7, 2013, at Gamma Road Lodge Nursing Home in Wellsville, Mo.  He was 70.

Marvin Duane Gebhardt was born Aug. 23, 1942, in Keytesville, to Marvin K. and Helen L. (Smith) Gebhardt. Duane graduated from Glasgow High School in 1960. He married Karen J. Borges March 17, 1972, in Glasgow.  Duane served proudly in the United States Navy Seabees and also served two tours of duty in Vietnam and one in Desert Storm.  He retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 15 years in the Navy Reserve.

Duane had worked at Monnig Industries, Armco Steel of Kansas City, Allis Chalmers in Independence, Mo., BP Amoco Oil Refinery in Sugar Creek, Mo., and Salt Lake City, Utah before returning to Glasgow in 1993.  He was employed by Con Agra in Marshall until his retirement in 2007.

Duane is survived by his wife, Karen, of Slater; three sons,  Brennan (Tammra) Gebhardt of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jordan (Savannah) Gebhardt of Glasgow, Timothy Gebhardt of Moberly; three daughters, Paige (Chris) Sanders of Glasgow, Cheryl (Jr.) Schmidt of Glasgow, and Susan (Michael) Termini of Jupiter, Fla.; one brother, Jerry (Joetta) Gebhardt of Glasgow; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  

Besides his parents, Duane was preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Gebhardt and one sister, Linda Korte.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow, with Fr. Jerry Stockman officiating.  Visitation is one hour before the service.  Burial will take place on a later date at Asbury Cemetery in Keytesville.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary’s School in Glasgow or the National Parkinson’s Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
