Esther Margaret Anderson Packard Simpson, age 99, of Fayette, formerly of Columbia and Kansas City, passed away Jan. 11, 2013, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Ted Mountjoy in Fayette.

She was born in Gordon, Neb. on March 22, 1913, to Theodore and Elsie Zechman Anderson. Her father was the village blacksmith. Her parents were of strong faith with family life centering around the church.

She married Ira V. Packard in 1936 and they were married 26 years when he preceded her in death. They were the parents of a daughter Janet. She later married Curtis Simpson gaining a new family and they were married for 24 years when he preceded her in death.

Esther was a member of Rocky Fork Christian Church in Hallsville. She left a legacy to her family of faith and a life lived for Jesus. Her dying prayers were for Jesus to come take her Home…and He answered her prayers.

In addition to her husbands, Ira and Curtis, Esther was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Carl Anderson; sister, Ruth Schwendemann and step-son Roy Simpson.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Ted Mountjoy of Fayette; step-son, Dene Simpson and wife, Louise of Burleson, Texas, and step-daughter-in-law, Lenore of Olathe, Kan.  She also leaves 11 grandchildren and their mates, 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel in Columbia. Visitation was one hour prior to the service.

Burial was Monday at 3 p.m. at Green Lawn Cemetery in Kansas City, Mo.
