Jerry Dickerson passed away at Boone Hospital Feb. 6, 2013. He was 80.

Jerry Dean Dickerson was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Howard County to Sam and Maple (Hord) Dickerson. After graduating from Harrisburg High School in 1950 Jerry worked around the family farm. From 1952 to 1956 he served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After the war Jerry moved back to Howard County. During the next 40 years he was employed and part owner of a fertilizer business serving customers in Howard and Boone County.  

After retirement he continued working on his farm raising Angus cattle, attending or watching basketball games or just playing cards and socializing with his many friends who will miss him dearly. He was a member of the VFW, Korean War veterans, and the Fayette Senior Center Board.

He is survived by one brother, Lawrence (Juanita) Dickerson of Scottsdale, Ariz., two nephews, Douglas (Vicki) Dickerson and Mitchell Dickerson all of Scottsdale, Ariz., four great nieces and nephews, Maghan (Craig) Heyer, Sarah (Scott) Sellars, Grant and Adam Dickerson.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday at the Harrisburg Christian Church with Rev. John Gillman officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Harrisburg Cemetery.
