Glasgow resident Genevieve Monnig passed away March 9, 2013, at the Fayette Caring Center. She was 82.
Genevieve Monnig was born Aug. 16, 1930, in Chariton County, Mo., to Alfred E. and Leona G. (Young) Monnig. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1949. Genevieve, over the years, had worked at Helen’s Thrift Store, The Fabric Shop, Liquor Store, Dry Cleaners and Farmers Insurance, all in Glasgow. She was a member of St. Mary Church.
Genevieve is survived by her fiance, Robert (Bob) Haskamp of Glasgow; three Aunts, Marcella Young, Nadine Monnig and Eva Kaneer and a number of cousins.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Geneva Louise Monnig and fiancé, Vernell Kramm and two aunts.
A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Richard Frank officiating. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday evening at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Chapel in Glasgow, with a Rosary being said at 7 p.m. Burial was in Washington Cemetery with Ronald Monnig, Wayne Young, Greg Nolke, John Haskamp, Robert and Larry Kramm serving as pallbearers. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s School or Church in care the funeral home.
