Well known Fayette resident Mary Ruth Rohlfing died at Boone Hospital in Columbia on Sunday, March 10, 2013. She was 82.

The daughter of Gibson and Earlie F. Comstock Dougherty, Mrs. Rohlfing was born near Fayette on Dec. 16, 1930. She grew up in rural Howard County, attended rural schools and graduated with the Fayette High School Class of 1948. She married Arthur Rohlfing on Feb. 28, 1949. Mr. Rohlfing preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1999.

Mrs. Rohlfing enjoyed the role of homemaker for most of her life. She cherished her many friends but found her greatest joy in her family and the time she spent with them. Always encouraging her daughters in their activities, she served as a leader of the Fayette Girl Scout Troop.

Surviving Mrs. Rohlfing are her three daughters; Vicki Ruth Muller of Springfield, Terri Anderson and husband Larry of Fayette, and Lonni Kay Marsh, also of Fayette. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Teri Tennille Langdon, Kristen Kay Langdon, and Dwight Daly Marsh and her great-grandson, Cory Langdon Petersen.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Beckett, her brothers; J. W. Dougherty and Ralph Dougherty, and her sons-in-law; Phillip Marsh and Jerry Muller.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette with Larry Anderson officiating.

Burial will follow at Fayette City Cemetery with Dwight Marsh, Lonnie Beckett, Daryl Beckett, Eddie Valencia, Cory Petersen, and Roy Langdon serving as pallbearers.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Dougherty, Doug Dougherty, Scott Dougherty and Jerry Beckett.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m until the hour of service at the funeral home.
