Edward E. Slagle, age 86, of Orlando, Fla., passed away Feb. 7, 2013 in Orlando. He was born in Fayette, Mo. on April 19, 1926 to the late Everett and Wilma Slagle.

Ed served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Second Armor Division stationed in Germany, Central Europe and the Ardennes. He was in the Battle of the Bulge and crossing the Rhine. For his honorable service, he was awarded three bronze stars, good conduct medal and the victory medal.  Prior to retirement, he was employed with Path Lab as a courier.

He leaves behind his wife, Ling Slagle; two daughters, Sue Ellen Hunt and husband, Chris of Moberly, Mo., and Martha Roedell and  husband, Rick of Carterville, Ga.; two sisters, Sarah Dougherty of St. Joseph and Shirley Parsons and husband, Gordon of Hazelwood, Mo. Also surviving are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two step-children, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, James E. Slagle; a daughter, Mary Jane Slagle; and a step-daughter, Des Gomez.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Walnut Ridge Cemetery Association.

Arrangements are entrusted to Carr-Yager Funeral Home, Fayette, Mo.
