Norma Gebhardt entered into her eternal home April 1, 2013. She reached the age of 94 years and 29 days.

Norma Alma Heinemeier Gebhardt was born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc., on March 3, 1919, to Adolph and Elsa (Bruss) Knief.

Norma married Lewis Heinemeier in November of 1939. He preceded her in death February of 1971.  Norma married Richard Gebhardt in October of 1974. He preceded her in death in December of 1977.

She is survived by four children, Douglas Heinemeier of Fulton, Mo., Mercedes (Kenneth) Hoffman of Lebanon, Mo., Stuart (Lisa) Heinemeier of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Virginia Rice of Eldon, Mo.  Three stepsons, William, Maurice and Harley Gebhardt. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and a number of step-grandchildren and great-step-grandchildren, along with 10 nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Paula, Charlotte, Ellen, and Margie, one brother, Enno, one granddaughter, Michelle, and one son-in-law, Tom Rice.

Norma was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church and for many years was active in the Ladies Aid, Quilting, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and also taught children’s classes at Midweek School. She worked at Lee and Keller Hospitals in Fayette as a nurses’ aid.  Family was very important to her and they always came first. Norma was an accomplished seamstress and made all of her children’s clothes until they got to high school. She enjoyed growing flowers and made many arrangements for the church altar.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 a.m., April 23, 2013, at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Laurence Carlson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church Education Fund and Lutheran Women Missionary League, in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home.
