Bobbie Joe Scott, 71, of Franklin, passed away Aug. 23, 2013, at University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.

He was born Feb. 28, 1942, in Elkton, Ky., to the late Merrill B. and Jennie Armour Scott. He was a heavy equipment operator and retired from Libla Telecommunications in Poplar Bluff. He had also dug the lake at Eagle Bay Resort in Lincoln, Mo., and had worked as a coal miner near Bunceton, Mo.

Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Merrill (PeeWee) Scott; a sister, Linda Settle; a daughter, Kimberly Thurman and grandson, Ryan Price.

Survivors include his wife, Denise; two daughters, Amy Scott and Dena (Tom) Stephens; three sons, Jake Case, Bobby Joe Scott II and Keegan Scott; two sisters, Laverne (Skip) Biven, Carol McKeehan; two brothers, Harold (Joyce) Scott, Jim (Rantha) Scott; sister-in-law, Sandy Scott; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a special cousin, Addie Salmon; and a wonderful friend, Phillip Salmon.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

The family requests memorial contributions payable to Markland-Yager Funeral Home to assist them with Bobbie’s funeral expense.
