William “Bill” Robert Holtzclaw, 58, of rural Fayette, formerly of Moberly, passed away at home Sept. 26, 2013, after a brave battle with cancer.

He was born Dec. 21, 1954, to Robert and Bonnie Stein Holtzclaw. He is survived by his wife, Lynn (Peeler) Holtzclaw; his children, Jason and Danielle Conklin; Zacch and April Montrey; Billie Dee Holtzclaw and Stephanie Clark; Chris and Addie Boyler; Gerrald and Whitney Taylor; his father, Robert Holtzclaw; brothers, Tom Holtzclaw and wife, Melanie, Dave Holtzclaw and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie June Holtzclaw and grandparents, Jack and Myrtle Holtzclaw and Susie Hairl Bruce.

His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, Ella, Madi, Sydney, Dovelyn, Monty, Aza, Roman, Alexis, Grayden, Quincy, Alincia, Trace and Omarius. He traveled the country with his family as they followed his father in the Army. Bill graduated from high school in Hawaii and returned to the Higbee area which he always considered home. He was a man’s man and jack of all trades. He retired from the Moberly Training Center for Men as a vocational teacher. He loved spending time outdoors, enjoyed swimming in the ocean, hunting, fishing, building cars, gardening, refurbishing, playing his guitar and music.

Bill wished to be cremated. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at the Higbee Lions Club on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. The family asks for Bill’s family and friends to join them in celebrating his life.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, a cause he greatly admired or to Hospice Advantage of Columbia in care of Carr-Yager Funeral Home, P.O. Box 210, Fayette, Mo. 65248.
