Fannie Belle Broadus, 85, a long-time resident of Fayette, passed away on Nov. 2, 2013 at her home.

She was born Sept. 14, 1928, to Benjamin Harrison and Fannie Dade Gibson in Old Franklin, Mo. On Sept. 6, 1947, she married William Broadus, who preceded her in death.

Fannie, also known as “Corky,” attended Lincoln School in Fayette and Sumner School in Boonville.

Survivors include a daughter, Marsha Broadus of Fayette; a son, Kylar Broadus of Washington, D.C.; grandson Christian Broadus of Fayette; granddaughter, Jennifer McNeal-Emnett of Florida; step-son, Bernard Paige of California; sister, Ethel Shipley of La Plata, Mo. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special pet (Corky).

She loved like her own, Lue Lockridge-Lane and De’Jonna and Regina Powell of Fayette; Charles Hayes and Mitchell Jackson Jr. of Columbia.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Jean Baskett and Ella Mae Gibson and daughter in spirit, Lauarena Jackson.

Funeral services were held Friday Nov. 8, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Second Baptist Church in Fayette. The visitation was held from 12 to 1 p.m. at the church.
