William “Bill” Brenneman, formerly of New Franklin, Mo., and Shelby and Macon Counties, passed away Nov. 20, 2013, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Mo. He was 85.

He was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Iowa City, Iowa to the late Chris and Ida Plank Brenneman. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. On Dec. 2, 1985, he married Maria Macias.

In addition to his wife, Maria of Columbia, he is survived by his children, Elvira Martinez, Martha Corona, both of Long Beach, Calif.; Patricia Smothers of Redlands, Calif.; Alma Hayes of Mexico, Mo. and Regina Butler of Columbia; two brothers, Paul Brenneman of Charlotte, N.C., and Don Brenneman of Kemah, Texas, and 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 24, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
