Verna Louise Hutson, 80, joined the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013. Her final days were spent at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield, Kan.

She was born Dec. 6, 1933, in Armstrong, Mo., to Edwin Christian and Hazel Maude (Whitwell) Lockridge. She grew up in Roanoke, Mo., and studied music at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Verna worked as a machine setter for Western Electric. She was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon sorority. While in Winfield she was an active member of the Tisdale United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Womens (UMW) group.

Survivors include two sons, Michael (Sheri) Hutson of Lee’s Summit and Daniel (Juletta) Hutson of Grandview, Mo., two daughters, Patricia (Joe) Dellario of Lee’s Summit and Charlene (Doug) Crouch of Stillwater, Okla., one sister, Marianne Painter of Warsaw, Mo., 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and her Yorkie friend, Princess.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Edwin Lockridge and two sisters, Jo Stinson and Carolyn Eakes.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, with Rev. Harold Young officiating. There will be a visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be in the Roanoke Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Roanoke Cemetery in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home.
