Cletus Chamberlain Rainsbarger, of Boonville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Feb. 25, 2014. He was 81 years old.

Mr. Rainsbarger was born April 1, 1932, near Franklin, Mo., a son of Cordie and Vertie Jones Rainsbarger. On Feb. 14, 1951, he married Modena Overstreet in Boonville.

Cletus and Modena operated Clemo’s Restaurant in Boonville in the 1950s. Later they moved to Kansas City where he was employed as a chef for Gilbert-Robinson Corporation at Kansas City Municipal and Kansas City International Airports for twenty-two years. The family eventually moved back to Boonville and Cletus was employed as a custodian for Boonville Public Schools for fourteen years until his retirement. Among his favorite past times was fishing, frying fish outdoors and spending time at the family cabin at Truman Lake. He enjoyed spending time with his family and keeping up with their activities.

Survivors include his son, Richard Rainsbarger and wife, Lisa of Boonville; two brothers, Cecil Rainsbarger of Enumclaw, Wash., and George Rainsbarger of Penn Valley, Calif.; a sister, Eva Sue Chipley of Boonville; two grandsons, Timothy and Joseph Rainsbarger and a great-grandson, Joshua Rainsbarger all of Boonville.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold, Marshall, Victor and Ed Rainsbarger and two sisters, Cordelia Brown and Lavinia Sullins.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, March 3, 2014, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin. His place of rest will be Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
