Barbara Wesley Thompson, of Fayette, passed away at her home on March 28, 2014. She was 65 years old.

She was born May 13, 1948, in Santa Barbara, Calif., to Samuel Wesley Thompson, II and Barbara Jean Burham Thompson. Barbara was a former bookkeeper for a Columbia construction company and had taught elementary school in Morristown, New Jersey and at the Fayette and New Franklin Public Schools.

Survivors include a son, John Wesley Thompson of Seattle, Wash.; her father and step-mother, Dr. Samuel Wesley Thompson, II and Vladislava Rac of Gurnee, Ill.; a sister, Maggie Elliott and husband Dana of Fayette and two grandchildren, Arcadia and Pacific Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Thompson; a son, Michael Thompson and brother, Samuel Wesley Thompson, III.

Graveside services were held at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 2 p.m.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the National Institutes of Health-Genetic Research.

Arrangements are entrusted to Carr-Yager Funeral Home, Fayette, Mo.

While I was very sad when I got the news I was also relieved that my dear friends mother was finally at peace. Barb, you were loved and will not be forgotten.
