Kenneth R. Rieves, 75, of New Franklin, passed away unexpectedly at Cooper County Memorial Hospital on Friday, April 4, 2014.

Kenneth Ray Rieves was born in Boonville, March 12, 1939, the son of Howard Lee Rieves and Susan Alice Zimmerman Rieves. Kenny graduated from Bunceton High School in 1957. He married Virginia Burnette Jan. 3, 1962 in New Franklin and later that week he went to serve his country with the U.S. Army. They have lived in Boonslick Country their entire married life where Kenny had worked in several places, including McGraw Edison and New Franklin School District as the maintenance supervisor for many years. He enjoyed farming with his many friends in Cooper County. He was an accomplished mechanic who could take a Farmall M or W D 45 apart and put them back together so they could be used for what they were made for. Kenny could spend hours telling stories about his experiences and about others as well. He had been an exhibitor (operating the sorghum press) at the steam engine show from year one.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Lee Gerling.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of the home, sons, Kenneth Ray Rieves Jr. (Verinda) of Pilot Grove, Robert Clay Rieves (Donna) of Boonville, daughters, Alice Mae Rieves (Terry Jones) of Columbia and Debra Kay Heaney (Allen) of Marceline, Mo., and his sister, Katherine Palmer (Carl) of Boonville. He will also be missed by his grandchildren; Amie, Terrence, Chase, Devyn and Erika Rieves, Stephanie Barker, Savannah Marlett, Schylur Mahurin, Dakota and Brett Heaney,
Visitation for Kenny was held on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral services was at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Davis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Woods officiating. Burial followed in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be directed to the family.
