Lottie Lou “Muggie” Agnew Leach passed away at her home Wednesday, April 30, 2014.

She was born Sept. 25, 1927, in New Franklin to William Lee and Charlotta Harvey Agnew.

She married Edward William “Dub” Leach in Ottawa, Kan., on Feb. 11, 1946, and he preceded her in death Feb. 26, 2010. She was a lifelong resident of New Franklin, a member of the New Franklin Christian Church-Disciples of Christ. Lottie, also known as Muggie was an avid sports fan. She excelled in basketball and softball while attending New Franklin Schools. She worked on the farm with her father when her brothers were called to duty during World War II. Her work ethic was as strong as her character. Muggie and Dub together ran an apple orchard and a farm with crops and cattle and handled the day to day operations at Stock and Thoma Machine Shop. She believed in having fun no matter what you were doing and approached life with a smile on her face. She will be sadly missed.

She leaves behind two sons, Ben and Terry Leach of New Franklin; five grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Disbrow and two brothers, James and John Agnew.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, May 5, 2014 at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin with Rev. Roger McMurry officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
