James Hofmann, 74, of Columbia, Mo., passed away May 10, 2014, at his home.

Jim was born Oct. 27, 1939, in St. Louis, Mo., to Reverend and Mrs. E.L. Hofmann, the second of four children.  He graduated from Salisbury High School in 1957 and quickly entered the working world moving to Columbia soon after graduation. Jim married his wife, Carol in 1963.

Jim was a talented homebuilder and served as president of  the local homebuilders association.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Rotarian.  Jim loved farming, especially raising and taking care of his cattle.  Jim was able to find enjoyment in all life had to offer.  He found great joy in travel, hunting and dining with friends and family.  He especially loved becoming a grandfather and being with his grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his wife Carol of 50 years; his daughter Hillary Seematter and her husband, David; his son Hunter Hofmann and his wife, Betsy; his grandchildren,  Alexandria, Lauren, Chase, Ava, Keene and Claire along with several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 17, 2014 beginning at 11:30 a.m. followed by funeral services at 1 p.m.  Interment will be in Columbia Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a charity of your choice.
