Glasgow resident, Alan Thompson passed away at St. Luke’s Hospice in Kansas City, Mo., June 29, 2014, as a result of pancreatic cancer. He was 62 years of age.

Alan Wayne Thompson was born May 16, 1952, in Moberly, Mo., to E.J. and Dorothy (Littleton) Thompson. Alan graduated from Glasgow High School in 1970 and joined the Army National Guard and served from 1971 to 1977. He married Phyllis Eddy Dec. 10, 1993, in Boonville, Mo. Alan operated his own business, Glasgow Radiator Repair along with being a mechanic and truck driver and for the last 13 years; till his health failed, he worked for the City of Glasgow. He enjoyed time at the farm, fishing, riding horses and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of the home, two sons, Chad and Trenton, also of the home, three brothers, Ronnie (Helen Young) Thompson and Joe (Becky) Thompson, all of Glasgow and Michael Thompson of Lake Ozark, two sisters, Nancy (Mark) Colvin of Fayette and Kelly (Randy) Smith of Lee’s Summit. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Ali Thompson.

A funeral mass will be 10 a.m, July 2, 2014, at St. Mary’s Church in Glasgow with Father Dylan Schrader officiating. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday evening at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in Washington Cemetery following the funeral mass.

Memorials are suggested to Cancer Research or the Ronald McDonald House in care of the funeral home.
