Dennis Grotjan, 56, of New Franklin passed away unexpectedly at his home Sunday, June 29, 2014.

Visitation for Dennis was held at Davis Funeral Chapel in Boonville on Wednesday evening, July 2, from 5 until 8 o’clock. Funeral services were held at Davis Chapel at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, with burial following in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Dennis Duane Grotjan was born in Boonville, Mo., Nov. 14, 1957, the son of Kenneth D. Grotjan and Alma Lucille Gum Grotjan. He graduated from New Franklin High School and Central Missouri State University. He along with his father owned and operated Grotjan’s service station and tire outlet for many years, until Dennis’ retirement in 2011. Dennis was very generous with his time and talents which included involvement with Howard County Fire District and Law enforcement. He enjoyed golf and bowling and was a dedicated fan to anything related to the New Franklin Bulldogs.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, in Sept. of 2008 and his mother, in Oct. of 2008.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Jordan and her husband Robert, of Anthem, Ariz., Sharon Hackman and her husband, Wayne of Excello, Mo., and his brother, Kenneth and his wife Elaine of Winterville, N.C., as well as his nieces and nephews; Rob Jordan of Tokyo, Japan, Michelle Basler of Burbank, Calif., Deanne Hackman of Macon, Mo., Doug Hackman of Excello, Mo., Melanie Miller, and Daniel Grotjan of Winterville, N.C. and great nieces and nephews; Kiefer and Sydney Basler, Katie and Logan Hackman, Mason, Mackenzie and Madison Miller, Jackson and Dalton Grotjan. He will be missed by his many, many friends and old customers that he treated so well.  

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Mount  Pleasant Cemetery or New Franklin Booster Club to create the Dennis Grotjan Annual Golf Tournament. Friends may register online at: www.davisfuneralchapelboonville.com.
