Rural Howard County resident, Paul Smith passed away suddenly at his home July 9, 2014. He was 61 years of age.

Paul Dean Smith, who was known by most folks as Beer-Nut, was born December 30, 1952, in Miami, Okla., to Raymond and Ila Marie (Frost) Smith. He served in the United States Marine Corps and Reserves from 1970 to 1976. Paul worked as a truck driver and dispatcher most of his life, the last 17 years with Frink Trucking. He enjoyed cooking, fishing and entertaining family and friends at his parlor.

Survivors include one brother, Raymond (Midge) Smith of Elk City, Okla.; two sisters, Betty (Dana) Allen of Lansing, Mich., and Melinda (Rick) Bayless of Little Kansas, Okla.; best friend and companion, Dayna Morgan of Fayette; sister-in-laws, Reba Smith of Armstrong, Linda Alexander of Fayette and Erma Johnmeyer of Mexico; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be a celebration of life service from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday, July 19, at Hawgs & Heifers Reception Hall in Fayette.

Memorials are suggested to Hometown Health Care in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service, 174 Hwy 5 & 240 N., Fayette, Mo.
