Sarah Katherine McClammer Avery passed away in Spokane, Washington, on July 11, 2014. She had recently celebrated her 94th birthday with family.

A memorial service will be held at Carr Yager Funeral Home in Fayette on Aug. 23, 2014. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. and burial at the Fayette City Cemetery.

Sarah was born in Cooper County June 21, 1920. She graduated from Booneville High School in 1938. She married James Henry Avery, Jr, Aug. 15, 1942. They were married 46 years until his death in 1988. They farmed those years in Howard and Boone County. After his passing she lived in Fayette, Missouri and Springfield, Illinois. Sarah moved to Spokane, Washington in 2007 to be with family.

All who came to know her will remember her for her skills as a gardener, seamstress, quilter, great cook and as a loyal friend. She loved trying new crafts and sought new sewing activities to share with friends and family even in her last few years. She was a member of the Mount Pleasant Christian Church in Howard County.

Sarah is survived by daughter, Nancy Bartmess, granddaughter and husband, Regina and Neil Gustafson, and great granddaughter, Grace Gustafson, all of Spokane, Washington and Deer Park, Washington. Also surviving are two sister-in-laws, Odell McClammer and Dorothy McClammer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ira and Mabel Winklemeyer McClammer, and siblings: Ira Jr, Lela Brooks, William, John and Joe; son-in-law, Reggie Bartmess, and grandson, Avery Allen Bartmess.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Hospice House North, 102 West Rhoades Ave, Spokane, Wash. 99208.
