Glasgow resident, Etheda Strodtman passed away July 24, 2014, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo. She was 83 years of age.

Etheda E. Strodtman was born Jan. 20, 1931, in Aholt, Mo., to Richard and Sophie (Fuemmeler) Monnig. Mrs. Strodtman graduated from Glasgow High School. She married Howard Strodtman Aug. 26, 1950, at St. Mary’s Church and he preceded her in death Dec. 14, 1986. Etheda was a devoted homemaker, she gardened, she loved crocheting and knitting and always enjoyed feeding and watching the humming birds. She also enjoyed preparing meals for her family, especially for her children on their lunch break. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Besides knitting items for each family member, she would often do an afghan for the St. Mary Fall Dinner Auction. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be missed by family and friends.

She is survived by three sons, Steven (Betty) Strodtman, Richard (Patty) Strodtman and Mitchell (Mary Ann) Strodtman all of Glasgow, one daughter, Kristi (Steve) Drake of Marshall, Mo., two brothers, Kenny Monnig of Grain Valley and Dennis Monnig of Gladstone, Mo., seven grandchildren, Derek (Karen) Strodtman, Kyle (Julie) Strodtman, Trenton Strodtman, Clay Strodtman, Tyler (friend, Erica) Strodtman, Callie (Chad) Westhues and Kayla Strodtman, 10 great grandchildren, Sabrina, Carissa, Hailey, Ashley, Mark, Dylan, Ryan, Sean, Cash and Emma. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian Lang, two brothers, Elmer and Donald Monnig and an infant daughter, Karen Lee.

Funeral services for Mrs. Strodtman was at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at St. Mary’s Church in Glasgow with Father Dylan Schrader officiating. Burial was in Washington Cemetery with Derek, Kyle, Trenton, Clay and Tyler Strodtman and Chad Westhues serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers were Callie Westhues, Kayla Strodtman, Jeff and Ryan Schaefer and Joe Swearingen. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m., at Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow. There was a Prayer Service at 3:30 p.m., Friday afternoon.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s School or Golden Living Center in care of the funeral home.
