Former Fayette resident Irene Campbell passed away Sept. 2, 2014, at her home in New Franklin. She was 76 years of age.

Helen Irene Campbell was born Sept. 25, 1937, to Walter and Lucille (Skaggs) Ewens. She attended Fayette Schools. She was married to her first husband, George B. Ewens in 1953 and he preceded her in death Aug. 5, 1957. She married Edgar Vaughn Campbell, March 14, 1959, in Fayette. She had worked as a nurse’s aide at the Perkins Home over 20 years. She was a devout member of the Boonville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Irene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother that will be missed by many.

Survivors include her husband of the home, six sons, Billy (Cindy) Ewens of Springfield, Mo., Ronnie Ewens of Fayette, Bobby (Susan) Campbell of Fayette, Randy Campbell of Bunceton, Eddie Campbell of Columbia and Charlie Campbell of Fayette; one sister, Josephine (Marvin) Huber of Armstrong; six grandchildren, Heather Lemmons, Chris Ewens, Brooklyn Campbell, Ashton Campbell, MaKenna Campbell, Tieshia Thurman; six great-grandchildren, Austin, Colby, Cooper, Braden, Alexandra and Aniya. She was also loved by Dee Berry, Shelly Campbell and many other family and friends.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda Sue, two brothers and one sister.

A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Chapel in Fayette, with visitation two hours before the service. Burial was in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
