• SUNDAY MORNING SERVICES AT LINN MEMORIAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will be held in the sanctuary at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. Child care will be provided as usual in the nursery rooms of the Parish House adjacent to the church sanctuary.

• THE ASHBY-HODGE GALLERY OF AMERICAN ART will feature a double show from Aug. 31 through Nov. 20. In the main gallery will be “Feathered Friends: Six Decades of Watercolor Painting of Birds” by David Plank. The rest of the gallery will feature a memorial exhibition honoring the late Mel Meyer. A reception honoring artist David Plank will be held on the opening Sunday, Aug. 31. The exhibition is open to the public at no charge every Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. The ADA-accessible gallery is located on the lower level of Classic Hall on the CMU campus.

• THE 12th ANNUAL BOONSLICK FOLK FESTIVAL will take place on Monday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Boone’s Lick State Historic Site near Boonesboro along Highway 187.

• THE HOWARD COUNTY UNIT OF MISSOURI RETIRED TEACHERS ASSOCIATION will meet on Tuesday at noon at Schnell Hall. Retired teachers in Howard County are encouraged to join with the Howard County Unit of MRTA. • THE FAYETTE CITY COUNCIL
will meet Tuesday, 7 p.m. in city hall.

• THE SOUTH HOWARD COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY will host their quarterly meeting on Tuesday, 7 p.m. at the SHCHS Museum, 210 E. Broadway in New Franklin. Newcomers welcome.

• THE OUTREACH LIBRARIAN will be available Wednesday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the New Franklin City Hall.

• THE HOWARD COUNTY HUMAN SERVICE COUNCIL will meet on Thursday, Sept. 4, at noon in the Commercial Trust Community Room. Any agency that provides services in Howard County is welcome to attend to learn about area resources. Nancy Holtwick of Parents As Teachers will be the featured speaker.

• THE HOWARD COUNTY HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE RECYCLING SITE will be open on Friday, Sept. 5, by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 248-5246 to schedule a drop-off of hazardous waste such as pesticides, paint, paint thinner, aerosol cans, fluorescent tubes, batteries, antifreeze, transmission fluid and adhesives. Sponsored by the cities of Fayette and New Franklin, Mid-Missouri Solid Waste Management District H and Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

• A BLOOD DRIVE will be held Friday, Sept. 5, 2 to 6 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church Hall, 306 S. Cleveland Ave., Fayette. Sponsored by the Fayette Optimist Club.

• A BENEFIT DINNER FOR JEFF WELLS, who has been diagnosed with liver cancer, will be held on Sunday, Sept. 14, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church, 140 Highway 5 & 240, Fayette. Menu includes fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, rolls and dessert. Each plate is $10. A silent auction will also take place. All proceeds will go to the Jeff Wells family.

• EBT BENEFITS ARE WORTH DOUBLE THEIR VALUE at the Fayette Farmers Market which is open on Tuesdays, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., on the southeast corner of the courthouse lawn.

• NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS meets Mondays, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the First Baptist Church Educational Building, 101 W. Davis St. in Fayette.
