David Wayne Hendrix of New Franklin died at Ashley Manor Care Center in Boonville on Sunday (Nov. 1, 2009). He was 73.  

Born in Howard County, Sept. 25, 1936, he was the son of David Matthew Hendrix and Susie Maebelle Green Hendrix. He married Sandra K. Smith, Nov. 9, 1963, in Columbia. She preceded him in death in 1986.

Mr. Hendrix farmed in Howard County most of his life. He was a member of the Solid Rock Church in Boonville. He enjoyed the outdoors through fishing and working in his garden. His favorite time was spent following his grandchildren in their sporting endeavors.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Roy Russell.  

He is survived by his son, Darrell Hendrix and fiancée, Shirla Day, of New Franklin and his daughters, Ronda Rickerson and husband, Garrett, of Mexico, and Janet Snider and her husband, Kevin, of New Franklin. Also surviving are his brother, Keith, of New Franklin and sisters Frances Strodtman, Linda Hendrix and Sherry Hendrix, all of New Franklin. Also, his grandchildren — Caren Rickerson, Kayla Johns and husband, T.J., Tiffany, and Ashley Hendrix and Cassie and Kelsey Snider, as well as three great-grandchildren, Alexus Johns, Mackenzie Hendrix and Samantha Rickerson.

Visitation was scheduled at Davis Funeral Chapel for Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock. Funeral services will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne Purvis officiating. Burial will follow in the Boonesboro Cemetery.
