Grover Ray Shoemaker, 76, lifelong Salisbury resident and businessman, died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at his home.
He was born Feb. 5, 1936, the son of Grover and Sarah Shoemaker.
Ray married Mary Engel April 23, 1954, in Kansas City, Mo., and she preceded him in death on May 13, 2000.
Survivors include his five children. Gerald Shoemaker of Salisbury, Cheryl Shoemaker of Knox City, Dianne Fainter (Gary Rippel) of Salisbury, Patricia (Pete) Thornton of Armstrong, and Pamela Hubbard of Boonville, eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, one brother, two sisters.
Funeral services were held Monday, at 10 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with burial in the Eastlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Salisbury.
Memorials are suggested to Chariton County Relay for Life.
