Long time Howard County resident, Bernice Woods passed away at Golden Living Center July 2, 2012.  She was 88 years of age.

Naomi Bernice Woods was born Jan. 10, 1924, near Petersburg, Mo. to John E. and Naomi Quinley Watts.  She attended Glasgow High School. Bernice married Phillip “Duck” Woods, Jr. March 5, 1960.  He preceded her in death July 9, 2009.  Bernice worked at Hawthorne Co. in Glasgow, and National Garment factory in Fayette as a skilled seamstress.  She also hauled milk for Emma Creamery Co. for a number of years.  She was an excellent cook and loved gardening, canning and growing flowers.  Bernice was a member of the Boonesboro Christian Church since 1940.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Bernice is survived by three sons, Wayne (Allie) McGary of Lawson, Mo., Mike McGary of Glasgow, and Brad (Kathy) McGary of Glasgow; one daughter, Karen (Leon) Dobson of Glasgow; two sisters, Martha Satterwhite and Dorothy Clements, both of Boonville; one brother, John Watts of Fayette; she is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. 

Besides her parents and husband, Bernice was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Adam McGary, two brothers and three sisters.

Services for Mrs. Woods were at 11 a.m., Friday, at Boonesboro Christian Church with Rev. Roger McMurry and Rev. Ryan Lyons officiating.  Burial followed the service at Boonesboro Cemetery. 

Visitation was the evening before the service from 6 to 8 p.m. at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Chapel in Glasgow.
