Fayette resident Dean Studley, 88, passed away Sept. 11, 2012, at Cooper County Hospital.

Dean Russel Studley was born in Mineral, Ill., to Chris and Edna (Comp) Studley. He graduated from Mineral High School. Dean married Mary Jane Fairbanks and they were the parents of two daughters, Barbara Laing of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Sue Beaulieu of Homestead, Fla. He married Shirley (Johnson) Baker on Nov. 5, 1966.

Dean moved to the Fayette area in 1962 and farmed with his brothers, Wayne and Bob and also worked for the Armstrong and Fayette Co-Ops.

Dean is survived by his wife of Shirley (Johnson) Baker Studley of 46 years, his three daughters, Barbara and Sue of Florida, and Vicki Sue Baker of Fayette; two sons, Jeffrey Studley of Boonville and Tim Baker of New Franklin; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Bob (Donna) Studley of Downey, Idaho; sister-in-law, Helen Studley Henke of Fayette; and several nieces and nephews.  

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette with Pastor David Hartgrove officiating. Visitation will be two hours before the service from noon to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin.

Memorials are suggested to the Boonslick Chordbusters at 1308 Sixth St., Boonville, Mo. 65233, because singing barbershop music was a great passion of Dean’s.
