Longtime Glasgow resident, Joanie Aholt passed away at Ashley Manor Care Center in Boonville on Sept. 13, 2012. She was 80.

Joan Marie Aholt was born in Dalton, Mo., on March 4, 1932, to Fred and Cecelia (Tebbe) Monnig.  Joanie graduated from Glasgow High School in 1950. On March 31, 1951, she married Delbert Aholt at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glasgow. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 2006.

She worked for several years as a secretary for Standard Havens and a number of years for St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Joanie’s favorite hobbies were reading, traveling, and baking. She also loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joanie is survived by two sons, Greg (Cindy) Aholt of Boonville, Jeff (Brenda) Aholt of Linn, Mo.; two daughters, Brenda (David) Scott of Boonville and Margie (Dale) Linhart of Fayette; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Monnig of Kansas City, Mo., and Tom Monnig of Gilliam; three sisters, Pat Himmelberg of Pleasant Hill, Mo., Betty Kivett of Columbia, Mo. and Jan Zeiman of Garden Grove, Calif.

Services were held 2 p.m., Monday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glasgow with Fr. Richard Frank officiating. Visitation was from  4 to 7 p.m., Sunday evening, at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Chapel in Glasgow. A Rosary and prayer service  followed the visitation at 7 p.m. Burial followed the service on Monday at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow.
