Ronald Eugene Rackley, age 75, of New Franklin, passed away Oct. 1, 2012, at Cooper County Memorial Hospital in Boonville.

Ron was born Dec. 25, 1936, in Pine, Mo. to Willie Ralph and Ruth Hicks Rackley.  He married Joan Rosenkoetter on March 26, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962.

Ron was a long-time New Franklin businessman opening Ron’s Garage in October of 1972.  He was a member of the New Franklin Lions Club and had been treasurer for over thirty years. He was a member of the New Franklin Businessmen’s Association and was New Franklin Citizen of the Year in 2007.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Rackley; two sons, Ronald William “Bill” Rackley and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Robert Alan “Bob” Rackley; granddaughter, Anthea Rackley; and his canine companion, Lizzie all of New Franklin.  Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Genell Williams.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin with Rev. Clayton Blodgett officiating.  Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Burial with military honors was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin.
