Mary Rose Hagedorn passed away on her birthday Oct. 4, 2012, at Villa Marie in Jefferson City.  She was 88.

Miss Hagedorn was born Oct. 4, 1924 in Glasgow to Ulysses and Rose (Kateman) Hagedorn.  She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1942 and attended Mt. Saints Scholastica Abbey in Atchison, Kan., every summer to work towards her degree.  In 1971 Miss Hagedorn received her bachelor of science degree in Elementary Education from Central Methodist University.  She had worked at the Glasgow Co-Op and started teaching at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Salisbury in 1961 to 1970.  After she received her degree, she started teaching at Glasgow Elementary School till her retirement in 1991.  She was a devout member of St. Mary’s Church and the Daughters of Isabelle.

Miss Hagedorn is survived by her sister, Marcella Haskamp of Jefferson City, and six nieces and six nephews, Ronald, William, Donald and Dennis Hagedorn, Eileen Larson, Mary Roach, Jeanne Meyer, Carol Pollack, Mary, Becky, Dan and Tony Haskamp.

A funeral mass was held 10:30 a.m., Monday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glasgow with Father Richard Frank officiating.  Visitation was Sunday evening 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. with a D of I Rosary at 4 p.m. at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow.  Burial was in Washington Cemetery with Ronald, Donald, William and Dennis Hagedorn, Danny and Tony Haskamp serving as pallbearers.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s School or Lewis Library in care of the funeral home.
