Fayette resident, John Watts passed away at this home Oct. 24, 2012. He was 86.

John Gentry Watts was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Franklin, Mo., to John Engram and Naomi (Quinley) Watts. He attended Petersburg Grade School and Glasgow High School. John served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946. On April 4, 1947, he married Margaret Branstetter in Boonesboro. He was a mechanic at Ruether Chevrolet in Glasgow for a number of years. He also was a truck driver for National Garment Co. in Fayette for 15 years.  In his spare time he enjoyed tinkering and fixing things. John was a member of the Fayette Legion Post and the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Margaret of the home; two sons, Jeffery (Lola) Watts of Fayette and Richard (Janice) Watts of Armstrong; three daughters, Brenda (Duane) Nelson of Huntington, W.V., Susan (David) Fuemmeler of Armstrong and Carla (Ted) Stone of Ozark, Mo.; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Satterwhite and Dorothy Clements both of Boonville. 

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Fayette with visitation two hours before the service from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow the service at Clarks Chapel Cemetery in Franklin.
