Fair skies and cool temperatures made for a festive fall event at the 35th Santa Fe Trail Days in New Franklin Friday and Saturday.

Members of the Santa Fe Trail Days Committee began planning for the annual event several months ago.

They are: Barbara Maupin (chairperson), Walter Banks, Melissa Crowley, Clay Doss, Nikki Eaton, Frank Frevert, Jimmy Maupin, Janet Snider, Sue and Kerry Thompson.

Below are winners of the Pet Contest which was sponsored by Security Finance in Boonville:

Dog Contest

• Ruth Calvert won 1st place with her dog, Baxter.

• Linda Hill won 2nd place with her dog, Rose.

Other Animal Contest

• Kim Weston won 1st place with her goat, Leroy.

• Benjamin Ridgewell won 2nd place with his iguana, Lizzy.

Best Overall

• Ruth Calvert won with her dog, Baxter.
