Keytesville resident, John William Lewis died at Harry S Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, on Monday (Oct. 5, 2009). He was 64.

He was born on the family farm south of Glasgow, on Nov. 11, 1944, to Harry E. and Pansy Mae (Bentley) Lewis. He graduated from Glasgow High School in 1962. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1968. Hemarried Shirley (Wilson) Gebhardt on Jan. 24, 1970.

He owned and operated a trucking business for most of his life. He was a lifetime member of VFW.

Survivors include his wife; three sons; one daughter; three brothers; one sister; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Chapel in Glasgow.  Burial with military honors followed at Lewis Cemetery near Glasgow.
