Fayette Optimists Blood Drive

Fayette Optimists sponsored a blood drive for the Red Cross on Wednesday, Dec. 27. The drive, which was held at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Hall had a steady stream of visitors from 2 to 6 p.m.
The giving spirit was displayed by the thirty four donors who chose to share the gift of life during this Christmas Season.
The Optimists report that everyone who came to donate was eligible to do so – no one was turned away. Thirty three units of whole blood were donated as well as two units of ‘power red’ blood, for a total of thirty five units of blood donated. ‘Power red’ blood units consist of all red cells, not the typical combination of red cells and white cells as in most donated units
The Fayette Optimists appreciate everyone who took time from this busy season to donate.
