Election results for Harrisburg and Higbee for school board

Fayette School District was not the only local district with a bond issue on Tuesday’s ballot. Harrisburg Public Schools asked voters for a $2.25 million bond. The bond would cover the needs of additional parking and concessions at the baseball field and a heating system for the high school. Voters approved the bond by an almost two-thirds margin.
Harrisburg and Higbee also had contested school board races. Each district had two openings.
In Harrisburg, Josh Stephenson, Collin McBride and Tina Weber were vying for the two available spots on the school board. McBride received 40% of the votes and Stephenson, 33%. Weber received 26%.
Voters in Higbee had five choices for the two available school board seats. Mindy Huddleston, Chad Crawford, Virgil Earl Leezer, Jr. were on the ballot, and Rusty W. Ratliff and Danny Clark were write-in candidates. Huddleston and Ratliff will take their places on the board with 37% and 27% of the votes respectively. Crawford received 15%, Leezer, Jr. 9%, and Clark received 7% of the vote.
