The Glasgow track and field Yellowjackets are sending 17 athletes into the next stage of the postseason, after they qualified at the Class 1 District 6 Championships in Higginsville, Missouri, on May 5.
Senior Trace Thompson qualified in both the 200 and the 400. He finished in second place (23.70) in the 200, and won the 400 (51.04). His time in the 400 was a new personal record.
Dawson Yung placed third in the 110-meter hurdles (18.03). He ran 18.01 in the preliminaries to set a new personal best. Tyler Reeves placed second in the 300-meter hurdles (42.90).
The 4×100 relay team – Yung, Rhys Fuemmeler, Dalton Fuemmeler and De’shonne Cowans – won their event (46.77).
Cowans and Rhys Fuemmeler, with Thompson and Reeves, won the 4×200 (1:35.44). Thompson, Reeves, Cowans and Jackson Haskamp placed second in the 4×400 (3:39.18).
Rhys Fuemmeler placed fourth in the javelin (131-02) and set a new personal record. Haskamp also set a new personal best in the javelin (130-07) and finished in fifth.
Briar Boss won the high jump (5-11) and placed second in the long jump (19-06), and Brandon Prentzler placed fourth in the pole vault 09-06). Tyler Reeves won the triple jump (39-04.75).
The Glasgow boys and girls teams both finished in first place to claim district championships.
Kristin Stockhorst set a new personal best in the 200 (27.27) and finished in second place. She also took second in the 400 (1:02.65).
Hadley Sanders finished second in the 800 (2:35.13) and set a new personal best. She set another personal best in the 1600 (5:51.52) and won the event.
Madisyn Parks set a new personal record in the 3200 (14:29.36) and finished in fourth place.
The 4×200 relay team – Stockhorst, Sanders, Alyssa Yung and Makayla Fuemmeler – won their event (1:50.77). The same four won the 4×400 (4:12.51).
The girls 4×800 relay team finished in fourth place (11:34.18). Teagan Howell placed third in the discus (94-03). Krista Monnig placed third in the pole vault (07-06). Alyssa Yung won the long jump (16-06.5) and set a new personal record. She also won the triple jump (35-03).
Glasgow will head to South Callaway High School in Mokane, Missouri, for the sectoinal championships on May 12.
