A controversial measure to transition the Fayette school district to a four-day school week beginning next year was narrowly defeated in a 3-2 vote last Wednesday during the Board of Education’s monthly meeting. The idea had gained significant traction among members of the school district and with board members. But the division it caused in the community was ultimately its undoing, for now.
The Fayette School District made a surprise announcement following the Board of Education’s regular meeting on January 16. District curriculum director Jill Wiseman will succeed retiring Superintendent Dr. Tamara Kimball beginning in July. Additionally, Clark Middle School principal Brent Doolin was named Assistant Superintendent.
