The Fayette City Council during its regular meeting October 15 discussed the recent inspection of four buildings on the historic courthouse square, the possibility of building a helipad, and complaints about downtown parking.
First up, the board heard from Marsha Broadus and Troy Chapman with regard to ongoing issues with squatters inhabiting abandoned houses in town. One of those houses lies in close proximity to a longtime daycare operated by Chapman’s wife. The houses in question have no electricity or plumbing services, which means those illegally living there often use the lawn for a bathroom. ….
