16U and 12U Outlaws compete in Jefferson City tournaments

The 16U Outlaws went 4-2 over the past weekend in Jefferson City.

The girls started with a 10-6 win over STL Force McKnight on Friday evening before dropping a 4-1 game to the Missouri Gators on Saturday.

In the losers bracket, the Outlaws bounced back to beat the Blues 7-5 after falling behind 4-0 in the first inning. Addison Newell got the offense going in the fourth with a stand-up double and Megan Lewis drew a walk. Lexi Maddox drove them in to put the first runs on the board.

Preslee Sunderland led off the sixth inning with a single, followed by a double from Marci Lammers. Newell and Lewis drove in the tying runs with a pair of fly outs.

The Outlaws scored three in the seventh on hits from Breanna Estes, Skylar Sunderland, and Madi Lawson to win it.

The Outlaws shut out Legacy 5-0 on Saturday evening. Preslee Sunderland hit a home run in the fifth and Skylar Sunderland pitched the shutout. Lawson and Bryanna Griggs each had a double.

On Sunday morning, Hannah Quint had two hits as the Outlaws took the rematch with STL Force McKnight by a score of 10-4. Lewis and Newell each turned a double play in the win.

The tournament ended for the Outlaws with a 6-2 loss to SWAT. Quint, Lawson, and Preslee Sunderland each had a hit in the loss.

 

The 12U Outlaws lost their first three games of the season.

Eckerle led the team with two hits and two RBI. Grace Poulsen had one hit and drove in a run. Browyn Eubanks had a hit as well. Cayle John, Payton Kindle, and Leah Thies each scored a run. Kindle pitched all three games and struck out five batters in five innings during the final contest.
