More than 150 athletes from all over Missouri gathered on Thursday for the first day of the Russellville high school track and field summer series.
Fayette’s Josh Henderson took first place out of 19 with a throw of 156-07 in the discus and Zach Henderson won the javelin throw, improving on his school-record throw from last year with a distance of 160-01.
Josh finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 40-10.5 and Zach also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.02.
Harrisburg’s Brayton Stephenson and Wyatt Frost finished first and second in the shot put, respectively.
Stephenson easily won the event with a throw of 48-04.5, and Frost threw 42-03.5.
Stephenson finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 116-07 and Frost was 12th.
Harrisburg won the boys 4x100-meter relay with a time of 47.22 and Brayden Hudson took second out of 19 in the open 100-meter dash with a time of 11.69. Wyatt Robinson finished sixth (12.37), Kevin Raines was 10th and Austin Darwent finished 13th.
Emma Fischer finished seventh in the javelin throw (81-07) and eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:59.
Hayven Samuels and Braden Wyatt finished seventh and eighth in the 800-meter run with finishes of 2:27 and 2:37, respectively. Samuels also took eighth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:15.
Russellville will host two more track meets on July 17 and 24. The sign-up cost is $5, which is waived for class of 2020 participants.
Edit: Josh Henderson's discus throw of 156-07 was inaccurately recorded by meet officials and reported in an earlier version of this story as 150-07.
