The Association of Women for Education (AWE) will host a forum for school board candidates on Tuesday, March 19.
Three candidates have field for two open seats on the Fayette school district’s Board of Education. The candidates are former Fayette teacher Lisa Shrum, Brian Gose, whose wife teaches at Daly Elementary School, and Wes Friebe, who is also related to a Daly Elementary teacher.
Current Board Vice President Matt Hudson and member John Stroupe both announced they would not seek a third term on the board.
The Fayette School District Candidates Forum will occur at 7 p.m. in the Fayette High School library. The forum is open, and the public is invited.
This is the first contested election for the Fayette school board since 2020. Candidates will receive four questions for which to prepare with two minutes to respond. Each will have three minutes to make an opening statement and two minutes for a closing statement. A 15-minute question-and-answer session for the public will last 15 minutes.
The forum will be moderated by Sean Pridgeon.
Board of Education terms last for three years. The candidates will appear on the ballot for the April 2 election.
The Fayette Board of Education holds regular meetings in the high school library at 6:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month except for July. It holds a special afternoon meeting in January. Meetings are open, agendas are posted in advance, and the public is invited.
