The soon-to-be-reinstated Fayette Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for the Fayette branch of BTC Bank on Friday morning. The branch opened in October and is located on the southwest corner of the downtown Fayette square in the building formerly occupied by Merchants & Farmers Bank.
In August, BTC announced it had agreed to acquire all four branches of Merchants and Farmers Bank, which was founded in 1903 in Salisbury. The Fayette branch opened in 1991.
Based in Bethany, Missouri, BTC bank now has 23 locations throughout Missouri and southern Iowa, with total assets currently estimated at more than $1 billion. Founded in 1919, it has grown to be one of the largest agricultural lenders in the state.
Travis Schupp, the president of the Fayette branch, welcomed nearly two dozen members of BTC Bank, the Fayette Chamber of Commerce, and Fayette Main Street for the ribbon cutting.
“We’re glad to be in town,” said Mr. Schupp, who personally visited with everyone who attended Friday’s ribbon cutting.
BTC has already made a splash within the community with donations to several local causes, such as the Fayette High School band and athletic boosters.
The Fayette Chamber of Commerce, which has been dormant for several years, has been reorganized and is expected to relaunch in February.
