The CMU women’s wrestling team posted three first-place finishes at the EZ-Flex Open hosted by Ottawa University Saturday morning.
The event featured five schools, Indian Hills Community College, Central Methodist, Fontbonne University, University of Saint Mary’s, and host school Ottawa.
The trio of freshmen Sabrina King, and Lillian Gough, as well as sophomore Corinne McClure, all took home first-place finishes in their respective weight classes. In addition, Gough was named the open's Most Outstanding Wrestler.
King won all three of her bouts in the 123-pound weight class by fall, while two of McClure's three victories came via technical fall. Gough claimed victory by fall in less than 90 seconds in each of her three matches to earn a first-place finish.
Freshmen Brianne Whited, and McKenna Deckelman, and junior Andrea Montoya all competed for the Eagles as well, with Whited placing fourth and Montoya fifth in the 143-pound bracket.
Central’s next action will be at the York Open on Friday in York, Nebraska. Bouts get underway at 3 p.m.
