The historic above-ground pool annually opens for the summer season on Memorial Day weekend.
So far, 11 lifeguards have been hired. Managing the pool this year is soon-to-be Fayette High School graduate Hayden Sage.
Pool passes are available for purchase. A family pass for five people costs $80 and lasts all season. An individual pass for 20 visits costs $35.
The pool will be open from noon until 8 p.m. every day throughout the summer except in times of bad weather. Daily admission is $2.50 for those 18 and older, $2 for people aged three to seven, and free for children under three.
The WPA-era above-ground swimming pool opened on July 4, 1936, and was dedicated as Howard County’s World War I Memorial. The Art Deco design was patented by nationally-renowned civic engineer Wesley Bintz. It is only one of two “Bintz” pools left in Missouri. Fewer than a dozen remain nationwide.
